Trials & Tech (“Trials & Tech,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website at https://trialsandtech.com (the “Site”), how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Site, you agree to this Policy.
Information we collect
Information you provide to us. When you contact us through a form, request a quote, submit a pro bono mediation request, book a consultation, use our chat assistant, or email or call us, you may provide information such as your name, email address, phone number, firm or company, the other party to a dispute, the type and description of your matter, and — for pro bono requests — information about your financial circumstances. You choose what to share.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically collect certain technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type and settings, device information, pages viewed, links clicked, referring pages, and the dates and times of your visits. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies and through our hosting provider's server logs.
Cookies and Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your approximate location (derived from IP address), and your device and browser. This information helps us measure traffic and site performance.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics specifically by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. To learn how Google uses data, see Google's Privacy Policy and “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.”
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- respond to your inquiries, quotes, and requests, and provide our services;
- schedule and conduct consultations, mediation, and arbitration;
- review pro bono mediation requests;
- operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site;
- understand site usage through analytics; and
- comply with our legal and professional obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers who help us operate the Site and our practice, including: Google (analytics), Web3Forms (delivering form submissions to us), Anthropic (powering our chat assistant — see below), Microsoft (consultation scheduling, and for retained clients, secure document storage and sharing), DocuSign (electronic signatures for retained clients), and Vercel (website hosting). These providers process information on our behalf.
- Legal and safety reasons — if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Our chat assistant
Our Site offers a chat assistant that answers general questions about our services. Messages you type are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate responses. The assistant is for general information only — it does not provide legal advice. Please do not enter confidential, sensitive, or case-specific details into the chat. For anything specific to your matter, contact us directly to arrange a consultation.
No attorney–client or mediator relationship; confidentiality
Submitting information through the Site, using the chat assistant, or contacting us does not create an attorney–client relationship, a mediator engagement, or any confidential or privileged relationship. Please do not send confidential information until we have confirmed an engagement and completed any necessary conflict check. As a neutral, Chris Waters does not represent either party to a dispute.
Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, to provide our services, and to meet legal, professional, and recordkeeping obligations, after which we delete or de-identify it.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know / access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you;
- Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to exceptions;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — note that we do not sell or share personal information; and
- exercise these rights without discrimination.
The categories of personal information we may collect are: identifiers (such as name, email, phone, IP address); internet or other electronic activity (such as browsing and interaction data); approximate geolocation (derived from IP address); professional information (such as firm or company); and, for pro bono requests, information about financial circumstances.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below. We will verify your request before responding.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, and our Site does not currently respond to them.
Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in California). If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party links
The Site may link to third-party sites and services (such as our scheduling and review pages). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties; their policies govern your use of their services.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
